Rising Word ("the App"), formerly referred to as Mendword and also known as Daily Bible Verse, is a daily scripture application developed as a solo indie project. This Privacy Policy describes the manner in which information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed in connection with your use of the App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
This Policy applies solely to the Rising Word mobile application made available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. It does not apply to any third-party websites, services, or applications that may be linked from or accessible through the App, which are governed by their own privacy practices.
The App does not require user registration, create user accounts, or maintain user profiles. Scripture text, preferences, notification settings, and morning-view tracking are processed and stored locally on your device. Purchase status is also kept on your device; on Android, it is additionally confirmed through our purchase service provider, RevenueCat, as described under "Payments and In-App Purchases" below. The App does not operate a proprietary backend server for the purpose of collecting or storing personal information.
We do not knowingly collect, receive, or request personal identifiers such as your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, government identification numbers, precise location, contacts, or photographs for our own records. Verse content displayed by the App ships with the application and is not retrieved from a remote content-management system operated by us.
The App may store limited non-identifying preference and state data on your device, including without limitation notification time preferences, permission status, dates on which the daily verse has been viewed, selected feeling/mood for sharing, and whether advertising has been removed via in-app purchase. Such data remains on your device unless and until you delete the App or clear its data through your device settings. We do not receive a copy of this local state on our own servers.
If you grant notification permission, the App may schedule local notifications containing the day's or subsequent day's verse text and reference. These notifications are scheduled on-device and are not delivered through a server-side push infrastructure operated by us. You may revoke notification permission at any time in your device system settings.
If you use the App's share functionality, a share card may be generated locally on your device and presented through the operating system's native share sheet. We do not upload share content to our servers. Any further transmission of shared content is controlled by you and by the third-party destination you select.
Optional paid features, including without limitation a Pro subscription, a one-time lifetime purchase, and a one-time purchase to remove advertisements, are paid for through Apple (App Store / StoreKit) and/or Google (Google Play Billing), as applicable. Apple and Google handle the payment itself. We do not collect, process, or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment credentials. Purchase status may be stored locally on your device and restored through the applicable store's restore-purchase mechanisms or through the App's Restore Purchases option.
RevenueCat. On Android, the App uses RevenueCat, Inc. ("RevenueCat") as a service provider to process in-app purchases and subscriptions on our behalf. When you open the App, make a purchase, or restore purchases, RevenueCat may receive: an anonymous app user ID that RevenueCat generates for your installation; purchase, receipt, and transaction data from Google Play (such as the purchase token, the product purchased, and purchase and renewal dates); subscription and trial status; device and platform information (such as operating system and version); the App version; and your country or storefront and currency. This information is used to validate purchases, to determine and manage whether your installation is entitled to Pro features, and to restore purchases you have already made. The App does not require an account and does not send your name or email address to RevenueCat. RevenueCat retains and processes this information in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. On iOS, purchases are currently handled directly through Apple's StoreKit and are not sent to RevenueCat.
The App may display advertisements through Google AdMob after a limited introductory period of use. Advertisements may include a banner beneath the daily verse and, at most once per day, a full-screen interstitial shown after you share a verse — not when the app opens. AdMob and related Google advertising services may collect or receive certain device and advertising identifiers, IP address, coarse location derived from IP, interaction data, and diagnostic information in accordance with Google's privacy policies and applicable platform rules. Advertising identifiers may be reset or limited through your device settings where supported.
We do not sell your personal information. Third-party advertising, purchase-processing, and store platforms operate independently of us; their processing of information is governed by their respective privacy policies. You are encouraged to review Google's advertising and privacy documentation, the privacy policies of Apple and Google applicable to App Store and Google Play transactions, and RevenueCat's privacy policy linked above.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us using the email address below and we will take reasonable steps to delete such information to the extent we have control over it.
Because core verse functionality and preferences are stored locally on your device, the security of such data depends in substantial part on the security of your device and operating system. We implement reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of a locally focused application; however, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that information processed by third-party services such as Google AdMob, RevenueCat, or the applicable app store may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions that may have data-protection laws different from those of your country of residence.
You may: (a) decline or revoke notification permission in system settings; (b) limit advertising tracking or reset advertising identifiers where supported by your platform; (c) purchase the remove-ads option where offered; and/or (d) uninstall the App, which deletes locally stored App data subject to your device's ordinary deletion behavior.
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. The updated Policy will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the App following the posting of changes constitutes your acknowledgment of the modified Policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
